TENSE phase protection relay - adjustable asymmetry 5-50%

The phase protection relay from TENSE (Turkey) is designed to protect three-phase electric motors and other three-phase equipment from power supply network faults. The device checks the correct phase sequence, phase asymmetry, undervoltage, overvoltage, and ensures safe disconnection of the load when set limits are exceeded.

The wide range of settings makes the relay suitable for most industrial and commercial applications, especially when precise and stable motor protection is required.

Operating principles

Normal operation

When all phase voltages are within limits and the phase sequence is correct:

  • the relay trips,

  • The OUT LED lights up.

High voltage error (H)

  • If the phase exceeds the set limit → the Err In time is pending, H is displayed.

  • The relay switches off, OUT turns off.

  • When 5 V drops below the set value, Err OUT starts, the relay switches on again.

Low voltage error (L)

  • Drop below the set limit → Err Em waiting, L is displayed.

  • The relay switches off.

  • When voltage rises 5 V above the threshold → Err OUT waiting, the relay activates.

Phase asymmetry (Asy)

  • If the voltage difference between phases exceeds the set threshold (5-50%):

    • ASy is displayed after the Err In time, the relay is deactivated.

  • When asymmetry is reduced to less than (set threshold - 2%) → wait time Err OUT, the relay switches on.

Phase sequence error (pHs)

  • When a phase sequence error occurs, the relay waits for Err In and then displays pHs.

  • The relay switches off and remains off until the correct sequence is restored.

  • After the phase sequence is corrected, Err OUT occurs and the relay switches on.
