Detailed description - ERV-08M time relay (0.1 s - 100 h), Un: 12-230 V AC/DC

The time relay ERV-08M is a universal delay relay designed to control delayed connection after power supply voltage is applied. It offers a wide time range of 0.1 seconds to 100 hours, universal power supply of 12-230 V AC/DC, simple operation, and DIN rail mounting.

It is suitable for automation applications, fan control, motors, lighting, contactors, and other devices requiring a delayed start.

Main features

  • Function of delayed start of NO contacts when voltage is applied

  • Wide time range: 0,1 s - 100 h

  • Universal power supply: 12-230 V AC/DC (4 VA)

  • 1× SPDT switching contact ( NO/NC), 5A/250VAC

  • Two LED indicators:

    • ON (red) - power present

    • OUT (green) - output relay status

  • Time adjustment via two rotary potentiometers

  • Mounting on 35 mm DIN rail

  • Protection IP20

  • Compact dimensions: 91 × 18 × 65 mm

Controls and functions

LED indication

  • ON (red) - the relay is on

  • OUT (green, permanently on) - the output relay is energized (contact 2-3 closed)

  • OUT (green, flashing) - the countdown for switching is in progress

Time adjustment

The timer relay allows creating an accurate delay through two potentiometers:

  1. Potentiometer "t" (0.1 to 10)
    - fine adjustment in % of the total range
    - 0.1 = 1%, 10 = 100%

  2. Potentiometer "TS" - range selection:

    • A = 10 s

    • B = 100 s

    • C = 10 min

    • D = 100 min

    • E = 10 h

    • F = 100 h

The time change is activated the next time power is applied.

Switching function

1) Connection delay - delayed connection (terminals 2-3, NO)

  • When power is applied , the countdown of the set time begins

  • After the time has elapsed, the output relay (RLY) is activated - the contact 2-3 (NO → COM) is connected

2) Deactivation delay via the NC contact (terminals 2-1)

  • The 2-1 (NC) contact is connected even without electrical power

  • When power is applied, the countdown begins

  • After the time has elapsed, the contacts 1-2 open

Usage

The ERV-08M timer relay is used for applications where a delay in load is required after an event occurs:

  • The fan only turns on after the light is switched on (bathroom, WC)

  • Garage or hallway lighting after the door is opened

  • Gradual start of motors

  • Delayed switching of contactors

  • Sequential switching of multiple circuits

  • Delayed start of devices

The timing starts as soon as power is applied to the relay.
